Our history
We have grown to become Ireland’s leading frontline service providing shelter and care for families fleeing domestic violence, with specialist emotional support for children.
1994
Our founding member, Pam O’Connor, launches a campaign calling for a domestic violence centre to serve women and families families across South Dublin, West Wicklow & Kildare.
2006
Following 12 years of tireless campaigning, Saoirse opens its first domestic violence refuge in Tallaght. The building is provided by South Dublin County Council and funding is provided by Túsla.
2019
We achieve a key strategic goal and open our second refuge, located in South County Dublin.
Our services expand to meet growing demand. We majorly extend our Outreach & Prevention services and Child & Youth services.
2026
No judgement. No pressure. Just support.
