We offer support for children and young people through our refuge services and through community outreach.

Every child and family is different. Together, we create a family support plan based on your needs.

Saoirse Domestic Violence Services

Support may include:

  • Help moving into or leaving refuge

  • Breakfast and after-school support for children in refuge

  • Practical parenting support and parenting programmes

  • Support for parents experiencing child-parent conflict or violence

  • One-to-one support for children and young people

  • Help with emotional wellbeing and social skills

  • Help accessing education, healthcare, and therapeutic supports

  • Support attending court with your child

  • Support for young people under 18 experiencing unhealthy or abusive relationships

Support groups

  • We run groups based on the needs of families we support.

  • These may include seasonal activities during summer, midterms, and Christmas, as well as ongoing support groups.

Parents Peer Support Group

12-week group for mothers who have experienced domestic violence. A safe space to share experiences and learning. Get practical parenting support and self-care sessions to reduce stress and support emotional health.

Empower Kids group

Empower Kids is a project led by Barnardos. It shares children’s lived experiences and raises awareness of how domestic violence affects young people.

Our child and youth workers support children to take part safely if they wish.

Children & Teens Wellbeing Group

6-week group for children & young people aged 6–18 who have experienced domestic violence. We focus on building confidence and resilience, supporting positive mental health, and helping them feel understood and supported.

TLC Kids

12-week programme for children aged 5–18 and their mothers. Delivered in partnership with Barnardos and other community services. The programme supports recovery from trauma and helps build stronger relationships between parents and children.
