Crafters For Saoirse

Please support my crafting challenge for Saoirse Domestic Violence Services

I'm raising funds for Saoirse Domestic Violence Services. This cause matters deeply to me – and I’d be so grateful if you could donate.

Saoirse is a charity close to my heart that helps women and children escape domestic violence.

All funds raised support Saoirse's life-saving and life-changing services – including refuge accommodation, 24/7 helpline, counselling, and children's services.

I hope you can help me by donating whatever you can. Thank you for supporting me and supporting Saoirse.

Test run with my helper, Heather!

Monday 18th May
With the 30th May approaching, I have been started a small bit of practicing and have managed to recruit a helper in Heather. Yesterday evening she mastered the magic circle, the slip stitch, the double crochet and treble crochet (US terms) stitches. We have spend a couple of hours this evening practicing our little project. I’m just working out my time plan to breakdown the 24 hours of my craftathon over the next two weeks. I am absolutely blown away by the very generous donations to Saoirse. Your support is very much appreciated. Thank you so much. Orna (and Heather!). Xx

Yarn purchased! Crochet hook at the ready.

Monday 11th May
Thank you so much to all of you who have generously supported my craftathon. Of course I have a huge amount of yarn already in my craft cabin, but as my favourite past time is actually buying the bits for the craft, I decided that I had to do a little online purchasing. I chose some lovely yarn from Speingwools who happen to be supporting Saoirse for this craftathon campaign, and I chose the Saoirse colours for my yarn. Can you spot the little hint in the photo of what I might be making? I did a little test run using a you tube tutorial and I’ll hopefully get my plan together in the next week. I’m hoping to do my craftathon in chunks of hours rather than a straight 24 hour run. I suspect my crafting may be a little better if I do that and I might just survive it without trying to deprive myself of sleep! Will keep you posted when I start to get the ball rolling on my crafting.

Super charity - what will I make?

Tuesday 5th May
Thank you for visiting my page and and even bigger thank you to anyone who might consider donating.  Anyone who knows me knows that I love to do crafts but haven’t been doing too much crafting in the last while.  What better reason to get my craft on than to support the wonderful charity, Saoirse.     I had a mild panic when I initially saw the craft challenge being 24 hours.  Memories of teenage me attending 24 hour marathon sports events (I know, right? Me and sports in the same sentence! Haha!) and trying to survive an overnight with no sleep.  If it nearly killed me as a teenager, how can this perimenopause woman manage?   Then I breathed a sigh of relief when I read that I can break it into several days.      So with my trust craft cabin at hand and my vast craft supplies in stock, I just have to decide what to make and what to do with the items I make.  I’ll likely try to pick up the crochet hook again but will probably do some beaded jewellery too.  If anyone has any reasonable and not too complicated suggestions, please let me know.  Thanks again for your support.  Orna
