Crafters For Saoirse

Please support my crafting challenge for Saoirse Domestic Violence Services

I'm raising funds for Saoirse Domestic Violence Services. This cause matters deeply to me – and I’d be so grateful if you could donate.

Saoirse is a charity close to my heart that helps women and children escape domestic violence.

All funds raised support Saoirse's life-saving and life-changing services – including refuge accommodation, 24/7 helpline, counselling, and children's services.

I hope you can help me by donating whatever you can. Thank you for supporting me and supporting Saoirse.

2 items complete!

Thursday 14th May
I’ve completed a pair of grey mitts and a pair of socks. Finishing the mitts was a little rough because I didn’t do a great job on the edges when I was knitting them but they are functional.
The socks are in pretty good shape!  Kind of proud of those heels.

Finishing...

Wednesday 13th May
I've started finishing my WIPs.  As I was finishing the gray fingerless mitts, I saw things that I had done that I wouldn't do now.  I wasn't going to completely re-do them, so I tried to disguise the imperfections as best I could.  I didn't expect that finishing my WIPs would help me see how much I've improved my craft, so that was a nice benefit.  Even though I winced a bit.

In the last few years, I've come to understand that the finishing step is more than sewing up seams and weaving in ends.  It's the most vital step in your work.  It's about polishing your piece and making it as beautiful as you can.  It's about anticipating those finishing steps, and starting your work in such a way that you can finish it beautifully.

Items I'll be crafting

Sunday 10th May
I plan to finish off as many of my WIPs (works in process) as I can.  I can't remember what they all are - will post pictures as I dive in.

Below, in the "Gallery" section, I'll post images of things that I've completed.  So far, I've posted a lavender sachet (sewing), a headband (knitting), a mini Christmas wreath (crocheting), and a small dog sweater (knitting).

More to come!

Crafting begins!

Sunday 10th May
My name is Eva and I love to make things.  I am a knitter, crocheter, weaver, and I also do a little sewing and embroidery.

As a kid, I was afraid every day.  Growing up with that kind of anxiety does something permanent to your brain, and I have discovered that the joy of creating things takes away a lot of that fearfulness.

If you see something you like, happy to send it your way!  If more than one of you sees something you like, we'll work something out!

Thank you to my donors
